You will find that the interpretation of your chart is written in simple language, uncluttered by astrological jargon. If a statement appears to contradict another statement, then you exhibit these opposite qualities at different times in your life. For example, a statement that you are highly sociable and gregarious and a statement that you prefer solitude seemingly contradict each other; this means that you vacillate, and need both sociability and solitude at different times.

The astrological factor that the interpretation is based on is also given. The astrological factor is given for the benefit of astrologers and students of astrology. If you are not a student of astrology, then obviously the factor will not be meaningful to you, and you can ignore it.

If you find this interpretation of your birth chart interesting and informative, you might want to discuss your birth chart with a professional astrologer to learn more about the astrological influences on your life.

Chapter 1: General Characteristics

Your fundamental needs, values, and orientation towards life are symbolized by the four astrological elements. Each person has their own unique balance of these four basic energies: fire (warmth, inspiration, enthusiasm), earth (practicality, realism, material interests), air (social and intellectual qualities), and water (emotional needs and feelings).

Your "elemental make-up" is described below. Remember that most people are "unbalanced" or lopsided, and if you are lacking or deficient in a certain element (or elements), it simply means that you need to consciously develop that aspect of yourself to learn to appreciate and/or to work harder in that dimension of life.

Sometimes we overvalue the element that we are least endowed with, sensing it as a lack within ourselves, but more often we neglect or ignore it. The qualities described below will be reiterated and explained in more detail in the following chapters.

You possess a measure of all the elements and are thus less likely than others to overemphasize or completely neglect one dimension of experience for another. You are capable of both thinking and feeling, envisioning possibilities and dealing effectively with the here-and-now and so on. This does not mean that you do not have definite preferences and attitudes (these will be covered in the following chapters), nor even that you do not overdo or go overboard in your own particular way. But you are a more varied and complex person, less one-sided than many other people are, and you are able to draw on all of the elemental qualities when appropriate. In addition, you are able to relate to most people, recognizing a bit of yourself in their ways and values.

Chapter 2: How You Approach Life and How You Appear To Others

The following is a description of your basic stance towards life, the way others see you, the way you come across, the face you show to the world. In Chapter 3 you will read about the "The Inner You: Your Real Motivation", which describes the kind of person you are at heart and where your true priorities lie. Read this chapter and the next one and compare them - there may be significant differences between them, in which case "the inner you" may not shine through and others are in for some surprises when they get to know you at a more than superficial level. This chapter describes the costume you wear, your role in life, while Chapter 3 talks about the real person inside the costume.

Cautious, prudent, and rather self-contained, you are a person who approaches life realistically and who is not inclined to take foolish chances or get carried away by the overly optimistic or idealistic schemes of starry-eyed dreamers. In fact, you frequently have a jaundiced view of such things. You are rather worldly-wise at a fairly young age, even something of a cynic. Often the world doesn't seem like a safe, friendly place to you, and you tend to approach life in a guarded, conservative manner. You are generally calculating and careful, and are rarely spontaneous, fluid, open, and childlike.

You are pragmatic, shrewd, and an excellent strategist, carefully planning your moves for maximum effectiveness and advantage. You are willing to work long and persistently for what you want and you often do things the hard way. You do not expect others to take care of you and sometimes refuse or simply don't seek any outside help. You are often very ambitious, but quietly so. There is nothing flamboyant or flashy about your approach. You are very responsible, conscientious, and very concerned with your duties to others and how you appear in society, your "rank" so to speak.

To others you seem mature, serious, quiet, reflective, and emotionally detached. You dislike sloppy sentimentality and won't openly display your feelings, especially the softer ones. You like to always appear poised and in control and hate to show any weakness, vulnerability, or chinks in the armor.

You respect tradition and the time-honored way of doing things, and you feel there is much to be gained from studying history and also by learning from older, more experienced people. A wise mentor or father is often your guide in life, and you in turn develop a great deal of hard-earned wisdom which you like to impart to younger people.

You have a stern, authoritarian, no-nonsense aspect to your personality. You expect much from yourself and may not give yourself enough room to experiment and make mistakes.

You also tend to be rather close-fisted, to save and conserve your money and resources rather than spending, enjoying, or splurging with them. You spend money on things of quality and of lasting value, things which are good investments, but not frivolous, temporary pleasures. There is a bit of the ascetic in you. You have great self-discipline and self-control and can "do without" very well. Your tastes are generally understated and simple.

Though you may have other, more colorful and imaginative sides, the face you show the world is modest and rather conservative.

You project a very beautiful, pleasing, aesthetically appealing image to the world. Whatever you do is done very tastefully and elegantly. Though you are conservative and controlled, you are also loving. Your beauty and/or personal charm is one of the first things people notice about you. You are highly attractive, and possibly vain.

The effect of your childhood experiences, and the beliefs and attitudes you learned while young, are clearly apparent in your demeanor. It's all right on the surface, but when trouble arises you seem childish and needy. When you're in smoother waters, you appear to have a vulnerable, trusting nature that brings out the mothering instinct in other people.

You appear responsible, conscientious, and solid --qualities which encourage others to take you seriously. You are unlikely to present yourself as more than you are, and this humility is often endearing, or at least appealing, to others. Even as a youth, you seemed mature for your age.

You have a strong desire to make an extra-ordinary or unusual impression on your environment. You have the ability to fascinate and sweep along others, but also can be quite inconsiderate and ruthless.

You have good organizing ability and know how to arrange everything skillfully. Happy in team-work and adept in negotiating, you can lead successful business meetings. You can easily obtain all the information you need in order to make the best deal.

You tend to be somewhat inhibited and don't want to attract attention to yourself. You are likely to think that other people are more important than you are and prefer to live in seclusion.

Chapter 3: The Inner You: Your Real Motivation

Behind your rather careful attitude and conservative appearance (mentioned in the previous chapter), lies a much more unconventional soul. You may seesaw between adhering to the traditional and the unorthodox, the pragmatic and the idealistic, or fitting into society and being a nonconformist. You need to find a balance or make some kind of integration between the two. You may view yourself as being more progressive than you are because you surround yourself with middle-of-the-road people. Also, your combination of objectivity and interest in world affairs and larger issues is likely to enable you to become very successful in your business or whatever career you choose.

You are a freedom-loving, strong-willed, and independent-minded individual, and you insist upon living your own life as you see fit, even if that means ignoring convention and tradition. In personal relationships you cannot be owned or possessed, and while you are willing to share yourself with another, you do not always adjust easily to the emotional give and take of a close relationship. Though intellectually open, you can be enormously stubborn, opinionated, and inflexible on a one-to-one level. You have strong convictions and feelings about fairness and equality, and you try to live by your ideals, but your ideals about how people SHOULD treat one another don't always take into account human weaknesses, differences, and needs. You probably dislike sentimentality and traditional gender roles and "games".

You are fair, intelligent, objective, rational and often let your head rule rather than your heart. You seem rather self-sufficient and detached emotionally because you are capable of putting aside your personal feelings and viewing things dispassionately. But once you make up your mind on an issue, you are difficult to sway and can be rather dogmatic.

You think in broad terms and are concerned with the world beyond your own personal sphere - your town, nation, or even planet. You are likely to become involved in community affairs, social organizations, and groups of all kinds, or to have a keen interest in such. You enjoy being part of a group endeavor and often find yourself organizing, managing, or supervising group activities.

Forward-looking and progressive, you harbor great hopes for the future. You stay current and up to date, and respond to contemporary cultural trends, both in terms of personal style and in terms of ideas. When young you were very influenced by your peers and by group pressures and by all the "latest crazes". You have an experimental mind and are attracted by the novel.

Your strong points include your concern for human welfare and social betterment, your sense of fairness and democratic spirit, and your vision. Your faults are your stubbornness and inflexibility, and a tendency to be very obtuse and insensitive when it comes to personal feelings and human needs.

Ownership gives you a sense of security, and you have a strong attachment to your possessions. You also have a natural instinct or understanding of economics, finance, trade, and appraising the value of merchandise.

Highly competitive and easily provoked, you need challenges and opponents to pit yourself against. You thrive on contests and rivalry. At times your vigorous, combative way of achieving the things you want antagonizes other people. If you use force too often, others will turn against you and oppose you at every turn.

Chapter 4: Mental Interests and Abilities

You are a progressive thinker, open and receptive to new technologies and breakthroughs in science, and the latest discoveries in any field. You have high expectations and a deep belief that mankind's problems can be solved through the use of our creative intelligence and inventive mind. You have no patience for those whose conservative, unimaginative outlook limits their capacity to find solutions and envision a better future. You also like to keep abreast of current developments in world affairs, for you instinctively know that what happens in one part of the world affects everyone. You have a strong humanitarian impulse. Practically speaking, you have an aptitude for organization and enjoy being involved in cooperative endeavors or businesses that are contemporary and innovative.

You are quite verbal and communicative and eager to get your own ideas and opinions across to others. You say what is on your mind. Others see you as a lively, intelligent person, and perhaps something of a chatterbox at times.

Often your emotions and your logic are out of sync with one another. What you feel or subconsciously want or believe is quite different from your conscious thoughts. Thus you may have trouble getting clear about a given situation or making up your mind. You function best when you take time to reflect, brood and incubate your ideas and decisions, utilizing your intuition and emotions as well as your reasoning. If you study your dreams and their messages. you'll be surprised to discover how often your true feelings about someone or something are significantly different from your conscious stance.

Putting your feelings into words doesn't come very easily to you, and you may feel awkward trying to articulate and communicate on subjects other than the purely factual or intellectual. However, finding an outlet through writing or telling your feelings would be very gratifying for you.

You may find it difficult to think logically and objectively. You also can be too trusting and unrealistic, and others may take advantage of you or use you. You tend to avoid confrontation, may withdraw and pretend to agree with others to avoid arguments.

Chapter 5: Emotions: Moods, Feelings, Romance

You respond very much to the emotional tone and atmosphere around you, and can be dominated by your fluctuating and unpredictable moods. You often appear irrational to others because you cannot always explain the reason or source of your feelings. Anyone who lives with you must accept your ups and downs and appreciate your need for times of withdrawal.

You are also very sympathetic and understand the unspoken feelings and needs of others. You take slights and rebuffs very personally and though you may forgive a transgression by a friend or loved one, you never forget it.

You have a sympathetic nature and instinctively reach out to people in need of help. You also have a deeply ingrained tendency to want to improve or "fix" other people's lives, which can be annoying to the person who has no desire to be changed or "helped" in this way. For you, affection and caring must be expressed in tangible acts or service of some kind.

You need love, affection, nurturing, and enjoy being pampered - all of which is fine, as long as you are willing to give as well as receive the attention and "babying". There is a rather childish dependency on loved ones which can make you cling to them, or to be very uncomfortable with any conflict which could conceivably lead to separation. Creating a loving family is certainly a challenge for you, one that can be enormously satisfying if you can achieve it - and a source of great sadness if you can not.

You have an optimistic outlook, good intuition and the ability to find and use opportunities to your advantage. Your quick understanding of things allows you to see beyond ordinary limits, and you have the courage to exploit unexpected breaks.

Emotionally, you are very vulnerable and tend to have your feelings hurt quite easily. You are very impressionable and inclined to suffer states of melancholy or depression. You may choose a profession where you are allowed to be your own boss.

You are definitely not one to wear your heart on your sleeve. You care very much about others' opinions and crave love and appreciation as much as anyone, but one would never know it from your reserved and seemingly detached appearance. Casual, superficial relationships don't interest you at all. You are cautious and serious about love and really desire a deep, genuine, lasting love. You are old-fashioned about courtship and love, and will remain faithful to your loved one in good times and in bad.

You may be attracted to persons older than yourself, someone who is emotionally mature and reliable and who can provide the security you desire.

You often hide your affection, or find your feelings difficult to express or get across to the person you love. Being openly affectionate and trusting often doesn't seem safe to you. You may feel your love won't be appreciated or reciprocated. You may get involved in secret love affairs or fall in love with a person who is quite unavailable to you. Love and sacrifice often seem to go hand in hand for you - having to give something up to be with the one you love, or having to relinquish some person or some aspect of an important love relationship.

Chapter 6: Drive and Ambition: How You Achieve Your Goals

You are proud and ambitious, and you strive to excel, to stand out and be recognized for who and what you are. You have a very strong ego drive and like to be Number One. You find it difficult to take orders from others or to stay in the background, and you hate being wrong; you always insist that you are right!

You are forceful, strong, energetic, determined, and highly competitive. You play hard, you play to win, and you do not give up easily. In fact, you see life as a competitive sport or performance. You love admiration and applause, and you have a strong sense of personal honor and integrity. You tend to be very self-confident, even arrogant. Because of your belief in yourself, you are able to accomplish much, but if your confidence is ever undermined, you become self-conscious, defensive, and rather belligerent.

You meet numerous challenges and possibly defeats in pursuit of your goals and desires, and your setbacks often occur because you've been too rash or intent on working your own will regardless of the impact on others. You are intense and passionate, and simply don't know when to stop sometimes! Recklessness with others can be a problem for you.

You have a streak of the pacifist or defeatist in you. Learning to assert yourself in a strong, clear, forthright manner, and developing stamina in the face of obstacles are necessary to counter such tendencies. To accomplish all you are capable of, it would also be very beneficial for you to work on building up your physical energy. Get regular exercise, eat healthfully, get plenty of rest (something you may require more of than average), and especially avoid activities and people that dissipate and waste your time.

Your drives and ambitions in life may seem crazy or eccentric to the more conservative people you know. There may well be no security or safety net (no retirement pension, no insurance benefits) in the work you do. You are suited for freelancing, or professions that involve lots of change, innovation, variety, irregular schedules, and the like. Expect the unexpected and numerous ups and downs in the course of your life. You may change course often, and try many different things.

You feel that you know who you are and therefore are confident that you can achieve your objectives. You may consider marriage as your sole aim in life and could become completely bound up in your marriage and family life.

You are likely to be quite sensual and have a strong desire to become one in soul and body with the object of your affection. You may have a strong feeling that by yourself you are not quite complete and that you need someone else to make you whole.

Chapter 7: Growth and Expansion: Areas That You Enjoy

Your strength lies in your ability to see the whole, rather than only the parts which compose it. You have a deep need to explore the world and to develop your own philosophy of life and sense of personal meaning. You vacillate between being open-minded and tolerant of differing views, and being dogmatic or overly zealous about your own viewpoint.

You have good fortune working with groups, organizations, and others who share your ideals. You go further if you unite your efforts with others, as in clubs, networks, or civic associations. Social improvement, or benefiting your community is very important to you.

You are inclined to pretend that you are happy and that luck is on your side. Always dreaming of happiness and good fortune, you tend to take risks or actually indulge in gambling. You also should guard against putting all your eggs in one basket.

Chapter 8: Areas That Challenge You Or Are Difficult For You

You often have a sense of longing or homesickness for something you cannot name or specify, and you may have both a great attraction toward, and fear of, mysticism and parapsychology.

Overcoming feelings of fear, guilt, anxiety, loneliness, or oversensitivity is an important task for you.

Your fears revolve around money and material security, and you work very hard to ensure that your assets are solid. You may be very conservative, even stingy, with your money because you are afraid there won't be enough. You may turn this fear around and become very shrewd about investments and financial matters.

You have an inner conflict between idealism, hope, and faith in the future versus doubt and oppression by limitations and practical realities. You need to develop discipline and patience in order to achieve your aspirations. You will grow by learning to accept frustration and to persevere in spite of obstacles.

Now we will discuss patterns of behavior which you instinctively and habitually revert to when under stress - a mostly unconscious process and one which you are apt to overdo because it is so familiar and thus easy for you. The direction you need to follow in order to develop balance, greater awareness, and wholeness is also described.

You are capable of withstanding outside influences and remaining constant and steady on your path, but when under stress you become downright obstinate and implacable, resisting any change no matter how necessary or desirable the change is. Tenaciously trying to preserve the status quo and hold on to what you have, you are apt to ignore the subtle signals you receive about needing to do something differently which often leads to some sort of crisis.

You need to learn the limits of your ability to control life, and to accept and even embrace change and loss of the familiar, in order to allow new life and growth to happen. "Letting go" is a major life lesson for you. You also need to develop a balanced attitude toward your appetites and desires, as you tend to overindulge and/or deny yourself excessively.

The arena you are most likely to wrestle with these issues is in your public life and career. All of these issues will impact your reputation and standing in your community or professional circle, as well as how you achieve your important life goals and aspirations.

You have a tendency to shy away from other people, and you react toward others in an almost fearful way. You seem to lack confidence in yourself and for this reason may feel that you lack the ability to adapt easily to others.

Your nature is a bit restless and unpredictable and because of this, others may see you as somewhat unstable. You are inclined to involve yourself with unusual enterprises and tend to become overly excited in the presence of other people.

Your relations with others could be rather unstable and unreliable. With a somewhat negative attitude and weak will, you avoid opposition and escape your responsibilities. In association with others, you are likely to choose people who are asocial.

Chapter 9: Originality and Imagination

Areas Where You Are Creative, Unique, Unstable, or Compulsive

You are an unconventional and innovative person, and you are seen as a rebel, reformer, or highly unusual in your manners, appearance, or attitudes. You enjoy being unpredictable, and you do not conform to the standards that other people have set. Above all, you are an individual, and you do what you please regardless of customs and norms. Your environment and life circumstances may change frequently and abruptly.

You are yielding, gentle, and impressionable. You tend to "melt" into your surroundings, and do not make a very powerful, vivid impression on others. Especially while young, you may not have a very clear sense of identity.

Sensitive and compassionate, you do not enjoy fighting and no matter what you profess, you are a pacifist at heart.

You may have a deep aversion to groups, associations, clubs, or organizations of any kind. Any such group you become involved in is likely to be either for intense personal growth, change, and healing, or centered around social change and revising society in some manner.

You tend to get irritated quickly and are easily angered. Subject to outbreaks of irrational behavior, you may snap at someone for almost no reason. Your general rashness could lead to accidents if you are not careful.

You tend to be somewhat irritable and restless. You want to get your ideas into proper perspective, but are never quite sure what to do. Feeling restricted by circumstances at times, you may suddenly want to free yourself from them.

You have a tendency to exaggerate and blow things out of proportion and always seem to think badly of others. Confused over the motives of others, you must take care not to be victimized while at the same time you have to avoid victimizing others.

Chapter 10: Generational Influences: Your Age Group

In this chapter we will discuss characteristics and traits of your generation. Of course, you may not share all of the characteristics of your generation, but you are greatly affected by the tone that is set by your generation.

The first topic is "The Subconscious and Emotional Drive of Your Age Group". In this section we will describe a deeply felt urge, even compulsion, of your age group. This deeply felt drive comes to the surface with great force and power, and consequently leaves in its wake considerable upheaval and change. The second topic is "The Ideals and Illusions of Your Age Group", that describes the dreams, fantasies, and spiritual aspirations of your age group. The third and last topic is "What is New and Different in Your Age Group", which describes areas in which your age group tends to be innovative, inventive, unusual, and also where it may be unstable and unreliable.

The characteristics described below may affect a group of people for anywhere from a few years to about 30 years. There are one or more different astrological factors described in each of the three sections below.

The Subconscious and Emotional Drive of Your Age Group

You are part of a 12 year group of people who have a strong need to feel free and unfettered. As a group, you are inclined to grandiose plans and you have a great zeal for exploring new opportunities and possibilities. Your age group has lots of zest and enthusiasm and a very enterprising attitude. Religious fanatics and philosophical "nuts" are also commonplace in your age group and many of them are highly successful in influencing others and gaining followers.

Your generation has a deeply rooted sense of the vastness of life and the infinite possibilities that await. Your age group conjures up grand visions for the future and you draw up great schemes and plans. Exploration and travel hold great fascination for your age group, and you are eager to see the next horizon. The next time this astrological influence occurs is in the late 20th century and early 21st century, and these people will forge ahead with tremendous zeal in exploring outer space, and will strive to bring much that seemed like science fiction to become actual fact.

You belong to a group of people who will be the positive reformers and innovators in society. Peaceful methods and new techniques which do not create too much disruption, but which bring about fundamental and profound changes in society, will be your contribution.

The Ideals and Illusions of Your Age Group

You are part of a 14 year group of people who are conservative and traditional in spiritual aspirations and religious outlook. Your age group returns to some traditional basics in religion, and also traditional styles in music and art. Classical music and literature have a revival with your age group, and a great deal of inspiration is gained from the masters of arts, music, literature, and philosophy throughout history. Your age group is contemplative and reflective about religious matters and you take an objective and logical approach to religious issues. Many of you are cynics and critics of spiritual and metaphysical ideas.

Other age groups criticize your group for not having enough heart and compassion. Sometimes this is true and is evidenced by some unusually crafty and manipulative fraud and deception that occurs in the higher ranks of governments and large businesses.

You were also born during a period that lasted approximately 5 years and is characterized by an unusually high degree of imagination and sensitivity. You are part of a group of people who are very inspired but also unstable. Many unusual contributions to the arts, music, religion, and psychic development are brought forth from your age group. These works are often strange and bizarre, and always original. Your age group also inspires intense political movements that are often fanatical or unreasonable in their goals.

What is New and Different in Your Age Group

You are part of a 7 year group of people who are active in reforming businesses, governments, and other large social structures. A great deal of streamlining and reorganizing takes place, most of which will help to improve the well-being of people, the ultimate goal of these reforms. Your generation will promote various reforms that will vary in different nations. For example, some will increase socialization of public services and others will put more services in the hands of private industry. In either case, your generation strives for greater efficiency and a great deal of waste is eliminated from industry and government.
